Eye of God – Ojo de Dios Workshop

Description

Participants will create (weave) an Eye of God. Traditional Eyes of God are created with yarn of different colors weaved around two sticks making a cross. The weaving of an Ojo de Dios is an ancient contemplative and spiritual practice for many indigenous people in the American Continent. The Ojos de Dios have traditionally been created for celebrations, blessings, gifts, or to bless a home. Often, they reflect a confidence in an all-seeing Providence. For centuries, young people have made Ojos de Dios in learning circles (wisdom circles) with their elders, while in other parts of the ‘New World’ they were used as ritual objects or for rites of passage.

For grades 1-12. Materials are not included in the price. Teachers will need to obtain their own supplies.

Additional 2-hour workshops may be scheduled to build a cumulative curriculum of up to 10 hours.
