A New Phase for Cara Mía
Deepening Impact: Our programs now reach across generations, cultivating a community of artists and audiences -many returning year after year — who embrace creativity as a way of life and as a path to shaping their futures.
Broader Connections: Local and international collaborations position Cara Mía as a national leader in global Latino theatre.
Growing Capacity: To sustain this momentum, we aim to hire key staff — an Operations Manager ($75,000), a Marketing Coordinator ($50,000), and a Grant Writer ($50,000) — who can support our standard season, festival, symposium, and education.
Seven Pillars of the Campaign
This campaign unites seven core program pillars that shape Cara Mía Theatre’s artistic, educational, and community vision.
- The School of YES! – Empowering youth to say YES! to their future.
- Programs for Schools – Bringing art, joy, and belonging to every child across North Texas, reaching over 100,000 students [and/or] Academic support through Latino theatre for every child (149 Dallas ISD performances, 100,000 students).
- ActivARTE Teaching Artistry Lab – Training teachers and youth leaders for the 21st century economy.
- Latinidades Arts Symposium – Creating a community and regional alliance of artists and leaders.
- Original Plays & Global Collaborations – Creating new stories and global connections (Annual Latinidades Festival, new plays such as Texas Mariachi, Yemayá Flamenco, Yanga, and collaborations with Laboratorio de la Máscara, Escultores del Aire, Bombazo DFW, and Representa).
- Jesse Tafalla Jr. Scholarship Fund – Supporting youth in college, as they become tomorrow’s leaders, anchoring the Giving Tuesday match with generous support from the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
- Latinidades Theatre Festival – A global celebration of culture, connection, and creative exchange in Dallas, Cara Mía’s most visible and unifying event.
