Description
Participants will create a piece of Huichol Yarn. Huichol Yarn is a traditional work produced by the Huichol people, who live in the states of Jalisco, Durango, Zacatecas and Nayarit in Mexico. The unifying factor of the work is the colorful decoration that uses symbols and designs that date back centuries. Yarn paintings consist of yarn pressed into boards coated with wax, resin or glue, and are derived from a ceremonial tablet called a neirika.
For grades 1-12. Materials are not included in the price. Teachers will need to obtain their own supplies.
Additional 2-hour workshops may be scheduled to build a cumulative curriculum of up to 10 hours.

Each child will need: 1) 1 toothpicks, 2) 2 Wooden sticks (they can be popsicle sticks or little longer), 3) Yarn of any color (multicolor is best), 4) Little pom-poms for decoration (we can also create our own with yarn) 5) Glue for the pom-poms
